Helping the Fraser Valley community
to learn, to care, and to take action
in natural sustainability.
Community-driven program by the Fraser Valley Conservancy that encourages people to care for the nature around them. It gives locals the tools, knowledge, and support to restore forests, streams, and to protect habitats and wildlife; all from their own backyards.
It’s about more than conservation, it’s about connection. Neighbours working together to heal the land, one step at a time. Small steps that lead to big change. What are you waiting for? It’s time for you to Step to It.
01. The Concept
Creating an eye-catching brand
that encourages younger generations
to help show up for their community
Not only did we want to create a brand, we wanted to brand a community. We chose to use mascots in the logo and iconography to humanize the company and make it more memorable. There are 3 mascots in the brand: Gill (mushroom), Doug (shovel), and Willow (seedling); that are used as archetypes for the different programs offered.
We wanted a brand that would use bold colours and inviting imagery to convince younger generations into caring about the environment. We made it to look cool as merchandise, standout as signage against natural colours, and feel comfortable to join even if you’re new to conservancy and unsure where to begin.
02. Colour Palette
There are more
colours in nature
than just green.
If you think about it, all the colours chosen have their moment in the sky at some point during the day. And what better image to captivate the earth’s beauty than a sunrise or sunset?
These colours will make people hopeful, optimistic, ambitious, energetic. The gamut of feelings needed for activism-based community building.
